electric Hot Water Heater

Hello sailing friends, in the freezing winter cold of The Netherlands I am thinking of installing an electric heater element in my Aquaheat (G & M) Model 26E boiler. There is a 1 1/4" plugged opening in one end of the boiler and two more 1/2" plugs. The boiler is heated by the engine cooling fluid (that will stay). Has anyone experience with installing an electric element in this type of boiler and do you have hints and tips? Thank you for your help.Jan Huisman (HR352 # 375).

Electric heater installed

Sjoerd, thanks for your reply, which I read just now. Busy, busy! I have installed the heater in the mean time, and since the heater opening was in the upper half of the boiler, I rotated the boiler by 180 degrees. That meant that all water connections had to be changed, but that could be done. I will try out the new system in a few weeks from now.
