I want to put the Raritan electra san disposal unit is our boat. I would like to hear some of your experiances with this unit. It sounds too good to be true. We have a standard maual pump bowl. Should we change the toilet to a unit that has a macerater in the bottom to assure the best "non cloging" flow to the electra san unit? Any experiances will help.

The Lectra/San does perform as advertised

And works with manual toilets just as well as it does with any other kind. However, it does require adequate power resources to handle the 1.7 ah/flush consumption, and MUST be installed within 6' of the toilet and at or below the level of the toilet discharge. It requires very little maintenance. The Lectra/San has been around since the early 70s, actually BEFORE there were any marine sanitation laws. Some of those first units are still in service. You'll find all the specs, including the complete Installation, Operation and Maintenance Guide on the Raritan website (link below). And I'll be glad to answer any specific questions about installation, operation and maintenance after you've read through it all.
