1.) Blower stopped the other day.... found this wire or both disconnected. When I place one of the wires back to the connection the blower goes back on. But there's two wires not sure what the other could be for as it doesn't do anything when connected.

2.) Does anyone know what the little nodes on the ned of the wires are.

3.)Should wire be crimped or soldered.

Those look like diodes. What for, who knows. Some people wire an engine hour-meter off the blower motor.

Those definitely are diodes for one way DC current but who knows what they were used for. Chief

Well since the hour meter wasn't working either perhaps that could be the answer.

There's not a lot of wire to reconnect by crimping since the diodes are in the way.... I may have to replace the whole wire if it's not long enough to reach.

Someone did not want the blower running backwards, they installed the diodes to prevent a miss-wire.

Blower wire....

The other wire is for the windlass: it only works when the engine is running. Both these wires go to relays and from there to the units mentioned. Took a long time and much reading the electrical diagram to find out.

Caboteur...... thanks for your input, I'll test the windlass when it's disconnected to confirm. Someone above thought it may be hour meter. Which is not working either. Do you happen to know where I should look for hr meter wire connection?

Do you have a separate engine hour meter? Typically it is an LCD display and part of the rpm gauge. I did wire a separate meter since lcd's have a habit of blanking out. Mine is wired directly to the harness in back of the engine panel.

Thanks Capt TJ. It came with LCD that was not working when I bought her. Guess I really need to put in a new hr meter rather than write hours in log.

One of those can be for the windlass, the other for the hour meter. Connect them one at a time to find out, then LABEL them!

Everyone will have a preference, but I prefer to be able to operate the windlass without the engine running in case of emergency.

Thanks Ron, 1 is for the blower for sure. The other I will have to see if the windlass works without it. If not check the hour meter.

HourMeter

My hour-meter was part of the tachometer... it was LCD and blanked out. I followed instructions to get it running again and it did for a short while. I then connected a simple hour meter on the ignition wiring. Since this is not a "marine" instrument I located it inside the locker and have to lift the seat to read it. It has been working flawlessly for the last three years.
