Edson wheel size and leather cover?

On my 2000 C310, the leather cover is torn and in need of replacement. Looking at the Edson website, there two options based on the shape and size. "D" vs. oval. I can't tell the difference. Anyone know what's on the boat? The difference in diameter is 1/8" which is within my margin for measurement error.

remove and measure the existing cover.
measure the wheel diameter at various points to determine if it is really oval vs. round.

We bought the wheel cover from Edson and made it a winter project , As I remember, I called edson and told them we had a Catalina 310 and wanted the cover. They knew exactly what the size was and shipped it to us.
We did the project and it turned out nice. There was material left over so you will not run short.
We did it I think 5 years ago and it is still fine,!
We Enjoy it! And easy to follow instructions.

It keeps my leather wheel nice and pliable and clean off hand oils too.

I used Harley Davidson leather conditioner & dressing on the leather gear on my motorcycle, for the duration of ownership, with excellent results and have been using it on my leather covered wheel for ten years. Usually apply it three to four times per year. Keeps leather soft and adds a bit of water resistance. One thing that it doesn't do is make my Yanmar sound like a Harley!

I didn't think you were supposed to put anything on elk hide. I rinse mine with fresh water maybe once a year and it's fine! Maybe I can preserve it and protect it if I put something on it?

Not sure what type of hide is used on my wheel; it is smooth reddish-brown hide with very little "grain"; it is not the "suede" type cover. The leather conditioner definitely brings out luster & provides a degree of protection. It is probably some version of saddle soap with Harley's name & mark up in price. Try a bit of saddle soap in an inconspicuous area on the wheel to check the results. Saddle soap is a benign product that is unlikely to cause any damage.

Mine is a rougher, suede-like leather and is the same as what I have on the rear edge of my dodger. I'm pretty sure it's elk hide. I don't want to mess it up by applying stuff unless I'm absolutely sure!

Yes, I wouldn't use saddle soap on that type of hide either; likely to make a mess! Guess the best method is what you are presently doing; simply rinse with fresh water or perhaps mix in a bit of Dawn dish washing detergent to remove any stains or oil. During the BP oil spill 10 years ago, wildlife rescuers used Dawn to remove oil residue from ducks, pelicans, & other wildlife. Guess if it is mild enough to use on wildlife, it is ok to use on a steering wheel hide!
