I have an 81' Hunter 30 with an Edson Pedistal and wheel. I need to replace the Transmission linkage cable (it broke at the Trans end)and I have detached it at both ends but it is secured to a block in the pedistal. The block holds both the throttle and Trans cables. There is an outside screw that holds the block to the pedistal. I wanted to check with you guys before I removed that external screw, because I do not see how I am going to line up the block to put the screw back in. If anyone has experience with this cable replacement, I would appreciate any hints or pointer on how to deal with this securing block. Thanks!

me too!

Fred, - I have a '80 30 with the same pedestal and would also like to change the cables. Try to get a hold of the Edison catalog at one of the boat shows. They have exploded diagrams of all of their pedestals, showing details of assembly and part replacement. The problem of the block and screw look tricky. Ask around your yard.

Pedestal problem

I have a service manual and catalog for the Edson pedestals and have one on my 78h30. If you will tell me the model number of your pedestal and/of if you have a fax machine, I'd be glad to fax you what drawings I have that might be of assistance to you.
