I am looking at a new boat (426) and it comes with an ecohead system - anyone have them? Do the work well? Any problems with them? Any advice apperciated.

Do you mean EcoVac?

If it's an EcoVac, it's the compact version of a VacuFlush.

EcoVac Toilet

The EcoVac toilet is in its third generation of parts. I know because I have had all three over the past two years. SeaLand makes the EcoVac and it works very good. The problems we have had have been related to using a plastic shaft at a major pressure point (the pedal flusher) which has since been replaced with a brass shaft. Also, the spring cartridge (also part of the pedal flusher) has been updated with a new one that is black rather than light green. Please make sure that yours has these or I can promise you problems at the worst possible time. SeaLand has been great to us in helping correct the problems. The pump does make noise. In the middle of the night that can be a bit disconcerting to another person who is still sleeping. However, I believe that this is a small price to pay for the benefits of not pumping it out yourself. The last problem we had was in the hose from the toilet to the pump. Hunter put in a hose that was not approved for a line under pressure. As a result, it developed a crack-- behind the wall, of course. You can imagine the rest. It cost me $550 to fix. I am not a happy camper about it. I would require SeaLand's no odor line be included as a part of any EcoVac installation. I hope all of this helps. Overall, we like the toilet and feel that the problems have been resolved.

Peggy -Eco - flush is what Hunter has it listed as

Peggy, I don't know saw it for the first time on a Hunter 326 at the show, the brochure and the literature advertising the boat call it an eco - flush system?

Noisy pump cure

Install a night switch in the head. The previously accumulated vacuum will flush the toilet once with the system off...the pump won't run to re-establish vacuum until you turn it on again in the morning. Btw..EcoVac is just SeaLand's name for the "space saving" size bowl for a VacuFlush toilet. A little smaller than the standard size 800 series bowls, a bit bigger than the REALLY small 106 bowl. Otherwise, no different from any other VacuFlush.

How does it flush?

If you just step on the pedal, it's a VacuFlush. If not, I'd have to know who makes it to have a clue what it is.

I may be onto something...

I just did a Google search for EcoFlush...came up with an Italian mfr of boat toilets. Check out the link below...does it look like what you saw on the boat? If so, click on "water works" and "electrical wiring" to see how it works. It appears to be very similar to the Italian Tecma toilets that Wilcox began importing a couple of years ago.

Peggy - the way it worked..

You simply steped on the foot petal to flush - you could add extra water by lifting up the foot pedal also, so this is probabaly the sea land you have explained.
