We on our Hunter 33, will be heading to Georgia from Stuart FL on or after Nov 1, We hope the shuttle Launch scheduled for the 1st might be delayed until we reach the Canaveral area, and we would like to stop at St. Augustine, other than that, what don't miss locations are on our route?

We liked Vero Beach, especially that restaurant under the bridge. But you will be hurrying past there to get to Canaveral. We stayed inside from St. Augustine to Fort Pierce. Our only other stop was an anchorage at Cocoa Beach after a storm on the Indian River tore up our bimini. St. Augustine has been my favorite place in Florida since I was 12 years old.

The Conch House Marina in St. Augustine has really dropped their prices right now because of the economy. We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was around $500 a month for a slip with Wifi, electric, water, and cable). Use of the laundry facility and the pool. I was blown away at how much they have dropped their prices. We have a 25 ft so prices are based on that. I like Cumberland also If you have not done the tour of Fort Clinch on Amelia Island, it is a nice place to go....once. Also the Tour of Fort Matanzas is cool in St Augustine. We have a 6 year old, so Fort tours is something he really gets into.

As I currently live just south of Daytona and used to live in Cocoa, I can recommend the marina just north of the SR 520 ICW bridge in downtown Cocoa (The Cocoa Village Marina). It's co-located at a fairly new condo development and has pool, laundry, ice, cable, and a host of restaurants, shops and a marine hardware store within a three block area from the dock. There is also a community theater (legitimate) that may be open in November. The Central Florida Yanmar distributor, Marine Pro, is also located on the west side of town. Lifeline Inflatables, an authorized repair station for Zodiac, Avon, etc. is located at the North end of town.

Their website is full of "what's up" info (Not to be confused with 'Cocoa Beach')

There are also several restaurants, bars, charter boats and some ship suppliers at Port Canaveral, just a short run eastward through the Canaveral barge canal and locks (two marinas there as well). This is a good place to observe a launch from the Cape.

If you would like to PM me with your info, I would be glad to call and answer your questions.

Regards,
G.
