Hi all, Once again it's that time of year to perform pre-season maintanence on the old engine. It's a 2QM15 on a '79 H33. The only part I dread every year is changing the impeller on the water pump. Does anyone know of an easy way, or maybe a specific kind of wrench to reach in and around the various obstacles to remove it? I've tried regular ratchet wrenches, combo(box/open)wrenches,you name it. There must be an easier way to get that little bugger in and out. Any ideas? Thanks Ernie

I remove the assembly first....

It's easier than working on the blind side.

head access?

on my '80 33 there is access thru the head wall on the starboard side of the engine. I have heard that earlier 33's did not always have this access. If your boat doesn't have a "door" to the engine from the head you might consider making one. Other than that it's reach in and unscrew the two nuts that hold the pump in. Then take off the hoses, remove the pump and have at it. I have done this in the water underway a few times. (as they say don't ask, lol)
