Hello

I have a configuration of Raymarine E80 E120 with Raystar RS125 GPS receiver connected with seatalk.
It has been working fine for 3 years.
Last week I started receiving messages of "fix lost" and they keep getting worst appearing more often.

Any Idea what may be happening?

Loosing Fix??

I had the same problem when I first installed my C80 and was advised by Raytheon Support to wire the antenna into NEMA. I was told that sometimes there is too much data going thru Sea Talk and this was my remedy.

Fix lost is not a sea talk error,

the GPS antenna is suffering interference.

The likely causes

1) physical obstruction between antenna and satellite. You did not say which antenna you had and where it was located.

2.) old software having difficulty on a low elevation satellite, the lower the elevation (azimuth) of the satelllite the weaker the signal.

3. Other electromagnetic interference from Computers, radios, etc.

My GPS antenna is on the rail of my stern perch seat. Not my idea, but when some one sits down it is very comfortable to hook their arm around the anntena. As soon as they do I lose the fix. I would bet you have an antenna problem.

Antenna

Although my system is much older, that is exactly the problem I had with two Raymarine GPS antennas. This one (knock wood) has hung in for a long time. Ray replaced one under warranty and the second at their fixed price.

Your antenna is going bad. I had this same thing happen. Took antenna apart no warranty anyway. It has button battery much like computer mother board which can go bad. Check battery first. If voltage checks out or try new battery. Caution battery is soldiered in place. If it still does not work then the little mother board has gone bad and you will have to replace antenna. I found a new replace 125 raystar antenna on eBay at a good price. Say 100 bucks or so?? Now everything is back to normal.
