e33 (alert) engine cover gas strut fixing

This may be only our boat, but the lower end of the one of the gas struts on the engine cover pulled out of the wood when lifting the cover. The bracket is held in place by ridiculously short screws.

A very simple and cheap fix but may be worth others checking and if necessary replacing the screws with longer ones before any damage is done.

Tip: Remove the gas strut from the bracket by pulling the "lid" off the socket to release the ball from the socket.

Richard, thanks for this information. This is exactly how this post should be used and how it can support e33 owners. I will check the struts tomorrow and replace the short screws with longer ones if necessary, as you recommend.
