Aloha,
The Hunter 456 I purchased had the rubber replaced by Foss Foam back in 2016, but the emergency tiller does not fit. The top of the rudder post is filled with foam. There is a pin about 1" down from the top holding in the rudder. I talked to Al Walker t Foss and I think he talked to Al Fooks and they gave me a plan. They said I'll need to secure the rudder and pull out the pin enough so I can use a hole cutter to cut out the excess foam down past that pin. The with the pin back in place, the slot in the e-tiller vertical piece should fit over the pin and thats how it'll work.
Has anyone done this? Any gotchas? I think that after cutting out the foam, some resin on any remaining foam would be a good idea (as long as I don't get resin on the pin or pin hole).
thanks and advance for any advice, John
