I'm looking for info on Dytek battery chargers. Apparently, some Hunter models came with these as OEM, but the company must have gone TU, so there is very little info "out there." Anyone have any info on them? Original literature, perhaps, or an owner's manual? Thanks in advance.

Dave: Why do you want one of these?
Well, actually, it's not that I want one, it's that I have one on my boat. Just looking for info, since I have the suspicion that Dyteks were older technology, not 3 or 4 stage technology. Some folks have referred to them as "Fry-teks".

Are you sure that you don't want one? I have everything you need and can ship it to you including a user manual.

Dytek battery charger

Sorry, Steve, I guess I wasn't clear. I own the battery charger, and it is installed on my boat, but I am interested in learning more about it. I was hoping that someone could tell me something about its charging routine, or perhaps point me to a website that has some info (maybe a pdf file of the user's manual is posted somewhere.)
Thanks.

SCUP: If you update your profile, I can try to scan the manual and email it to you after the first of the year. The charger is here and the manual is on the boat.

PS: You were clear that you had one, I just want you to take this one off my hands.

Dytek Chargers.

My 1996 H376 came with one fitted from new - 'orrible heavy thing.
Circuit diagram as below - dated 2002 and long after removal from my boat. I think Charles Industries is still in existence - see address on drawing. DON'T do my mods as they make it worse! Sorry about the poor drawing quality but this site reduces the file size. Anyone wanting the full info please e-mail me through this site.
Note:- The UK is on 240V so for 110V mains connect both primary windings in parallel.
Unit consists of a ferro-resonant circuit with a three legged transformer, one leg of which has an air gap.
The claimed performance is that the charger output is stabilised against incoming mains voltage variations only. Otherwise it is just an old fashioned taper charger with no protection against overcharging etc.
I took mine home to charge car batteries only - and then not very well.

Done! Thanks, Steve. I appreciate your help with the manual! :)

They actually are CRAP...way old technology and not worth keeping! The one that came on my '87 28.5 years ago got to where it was sucking power OUT instead of charging. Get a modern, efficient 3 stage charger that will handle more than just old style flooded batteries.
