Re: Dynastart Regulator - The regulator is also a switch to change the Dynastart between it\'s starting and charging modes. I can\'t comment on the US; but these are definitely still available brand new (from Lucas) in the UK; the bad news is that they cost over £200!

Hi

I can usually a source a secondhand Dynastart Regulator/Solenoid for
about £20. The dynastart is another matter. Heavy and expensive to
repair.....

Cheers

Thanks for response Steve. Would be interested in regulator and any news of a spare dynastarter. Also seeking washboard planks, old style dodger, and plastic vent on stern. Found vender that will make new mainsail here in Florida for 750.00 US. Also have friend who has designed different regulator for MD series and swears it is a much better system. He asked me to research interest and possible sales applications.... Claims it is more efficient and much cheaper than Lucas.... Look forward to further communication. Pat <steve@...> wrote: Hi

Hello,

My starter generator died last summer. I found that there are
alternatives to the original Bosch pieces. The starter generator used
in some Cub Cadet lawn tractors and the Vire 7 engine are equivalent.
I believe a replacement can be found on Ebay for about $100.00 to
$129.00 from various sellers.

Best of luck.

7 May 2004 - From JH, USA - I've found a source here in the US for
the Delco-Remy Starter/Generator, Part Number 1101864. They also have
repair kits which include bearings and brushes. Their address and
phone number is:

Jebco Alternator & Electric Service
609 Main Street
Riverton, NJ 08077
USA

Telephone (from the USA):- (856) 829-7589

29 March 2004 - From David Hughes , USA - Some engines are fitted
with separate voltage regulator and starter relay. The Bosch starter
relay that came with my engine was bad. After trying to find an exact
replacement with no success, one mechanic suggested just using any
similar sized and configured starter relay. I ended up using a
starter relay from a Ford Taurus. Apparently, you can actually use
just about any relay.

19 March 2002 - From Mike, USA - The Starter / Generator is Delco
part number 1101864.

Pat,

When my starter generator died I was about to purchase an alternative
unit. Fortunately, I was able to get Alan of "Voila's" unit from his
md6a. I did, however, speak to a representative of the company that
was selling the Delco unit. He told me that the pieces were
interchangeable. Nevertheless, It may be worth the effort to do a
google search and make a few phone calls as the Bosch is far too
expensive.

Best of luck,

I'm almost certain the the Delco Remy 1101864 unit will work.

You can find info regarding the starter generator in the following

Pat,

Last year I sourced an EFEL 06000 dynastarter for my MD6 from an
Italian company ERA SPA. Total cost, including shipping to Scotland
was around 130 Euros.

ERA's email address is: era@...

That sounds great John, did you have to make any modifications or did it bolt right on? Thanks, Pat hingumy jrb@... wrote: Pat,

Hi Pat,

Apart from enlarging the mounting holes to the same size as the
original, no mods were required. The original pulley fits and the
electrical terminations are identical to the old unit.

John
