I AM GOING TO THE STRICTLY-SAIL SHOW IN CHICAGO IN A FEW WEEKS,AND GOING TO BUY A NEW MAIN. I ALLREADY HAVE LAZY-JACKS BUT AM CONSIDERING GETTING THE DUTCH-MAN SYSTEM.IS ONE THAT MUCH BETTER THAN THE OTHER?IF SO WHY?
Lloyd:I do not know if you have checked with Dutchman or not. They DO NOT recommend a Dutchman on an older sail. They prefer that it is still fairly stiff so it can be 'Trained'. I had one on my original sail about 2-3 years after I purchase my Hunter 31. I got a new main a couple of years ago and had the Dutchman reinstalled on the new sail. They sent new parts to the sailmaker for an upgrade fee.Once you get it properly adjusted it is pretty much maintenance free.
