Dutchman Installation

When we purchased our 30 ft 1985 Tall Rig the data sheet said that it had a dutchman system. We must have missed it on the survey because the main has been modified for the dutchman system but the topping lift must have been replaced and there is no hardware or control lines attached to the topping lift. Is there a way to install the control lines and hardware needed without having to unstep the mast or go aloft? MarcP

I think so

I have one and as I looked it over, I think you could tie lines and feed them up ( and down) without climbing. Although, the climb up is easy with a couple of buddies on the winches. Go to a voat that has one and look at what I am saying.

If you don't have a topping lift installed you will need to go aloft to install the dutchman. If you have a topping lift you can set up the dutchman blocks and contols from the deck. It's alot of work but worth it.
