Dutchman advertises batten fittings for full batten mainsails. The fittings securely hold the battens, attach to standard sail slides and aid in raising and lowering the main -similar to a batcar system. Further, they apparently rotate 90degrees so that when the main is lowered, the battens will rotate and lay flat against the boom. I am considering these for my 35.5. Has anyone had any experience with them? I would appreciate any comments Thank you. Dave s/v Compass Rose

Check out Practical Sailor Archives

Don't recall exactly when, but PS reviewed them and other slide systems within the last two years. Go to their website and search there. Then you'll have to backorder the issue involved. Vague recollection is that they generally approved of them. Although not the best, a good value for the money was their summary.

Dutchman Bat Cars

I installed the Dutchman Bat Cars on mt 35.5 several years ago and found out that they are not worth the effort or money. I thought they would make it easier to raise the main but they don't.
