I bought a 1991 Hunter 28 last Spring and I'm getting ready to apply my first coat of VC-17. However, I'm looking at newer and (hopefully) better ways of protecting the bottom of my boat and I'd love some feedback on a two-step process I'd like to use: First, blast the previously applied anti-fouling paint back down to the gelcoat using a dustless blaster that seems to really work great (click here for a demo). Second, my crew and I would apply a CopperCoat epoxy with a 10-year life (and hopefully better environmental stewardship) (click here for a demo of the CopperCoat).

I sail on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin (freshwater, but a lot of soupy algae and zebra mussels). Thoughts?
