Dumb Luck

I did a dumb thing the other day. Tried to climb up the stern ladder without any jackstands under the trailer or the tongue locked onto the hitch ball. Safety chains were hooked to the hitch and they popped loose at two welding points when the bow went airborne. Lucky those chains weren't needed on the highway or I might have had a boat sailing into oncoming traffic. Last June one of the brackets that holds a fender snapped cleanly in two under no more duress than driving down a city street. Are these trailers falling apart? I assume it's one of those Ken's that came with my '87 h23. Mac

Glad you didn't get hurt

It's an old trailer. The trailer for my 23.5 is not holding up as well as the boat. But I'll have to admit that I've done very little trailer repair other than new chains, rebolting fenders, new tires, and some scrapping and painting. This is nothing like the hours of love I've given to keeping the boat in good shape.
