DST800 mounting issues/options

Now that the boat's out of the water I am trying to figure out where to mount my new DST800 transducer. The problem is the new unit is taller than the old ones so it doesn't fit in the area on the 9.2 where the old transducers are mounted. Right now my thoughts are to mount it up in the port settee as close to the center line as I can, but that will still be off the center line by over one foot and near the keel. I'm thinking that location could result in inaccurate measurements when heeled. The other option might be to make some kind of fiberglass faring ahead of the keel to give me the necessary inch or so, but that could be a lot of work (especially if the yard where I'm hauled out deems that to be work they would expect me to contract with them to do.)

I'm open to suggestions :)

It won't give you accurate water flow readings, and possibly the depth sounder could reflect off the keel if it's within the spread of the emitter. You really do want it as close to the center line and forward as possible.
Then again, the preferred spot on a Mac26c is in the aft lazarette. :)
