DS I Centerboard gasket

Hi to all: I have been searching the archives for the proper lubricant to use on the centerboard gasket on a DS I. I think that someone had mentioned a silicone lubricant. Am I correct? Thanks to all in advance. Fair winds, Gary DS I #3235 "Dancing Girls II"

Vaseline

I used Vaseline when I replaced mine a year ago and all seems well. I believe the Class association web site has a bunch of info on that.

white lithium grease

I know that white lithium grease was discussed but frowned upon in one thread. I have tried it as well as silicone, neither worked. I ordered new gaskets from D&R marine, and replace the old ones. That worked just fine. I get only a few cupfuls of water in the bilge now seeping in through the inspection ports from rainwater. It has been in the water at a slip all summer.
