Drywall Sander - Bottom Sanding?

Any reason not to use a drywall sander? Recommended by another boater - thinking of getting it a try. Less mess and less time to sand. What am I missing?

I would not use it. It take too much off.

Why do you think so? Still using 80 grit as with a small palm sander?

Nothing. Just don't go medieval on it. You'll be fine.

I think it would work fine. You might find that it gives out on you quicker, not sure. I don't see any reason not to try it.

ive been using it for years after i noticed the yard using it. the swivel head on a pole makes quick work for it. doing it wet with an active hose is also dustless.

I've used them to wet sand my bottom. They are okay. I dunk mine in a bucket to unclog it and catch the contaminants. I haven't tried the new eco-friendly paints.

I've had one of these 15-20 yrs. when I started finishing the basement in our house. Since then I've done mile and miles of drywall with very minimal dust. Connect to a shop-vac, use a drywall bag in the vac and the pleated filter. I then started using on the boat and had very good results with nearly zero dust in sanding the bottom.

I have used my drywall sander with a hose that connects to my shop vac. Works great.
