Force 10

I had a friend install a Force 10 propane heater in his C30 & it kept it pretty warm but I wouldn't go to sleep with it on. You're asking for trouble...if not worse. If you're living aboard, go with an installed forced air heater. You won't regret it & your life will be that much more pleasant. LaDonna

Same question

My wife and I were looking at the Dickenson propane at a recent boat show. I had a Force 10 kerosene on my last boat, and it worked ok for my light usage, but the Dickenson propane has a larger flue, and combined the with propane fuel it should have less odor. I also liked the compact size, which is lower profile than even the Force 10. Since I only intend to use it maybe 15 days a year (in winter) a compact and simple installation is high on my priority. I would also be interested hearing from someone with direct experience with the Dickenson (Newport?) propane heater.

Think Diesel

I know they cost ton of $, but, there is little that compares in terms of comfort to the dry forced air heat produced by a diesel heater. Mount it in cockpit locker No additional fuel source No combustion bi-products in cabin Nothing too hot to touch in cabin Low amp draw (fan and fuel pump) Low fuel draw (drops) Can be run all night Themostat control No extra H2O in cabin Heat delivered at floor level Low maintenance Fuel safer than propane Save propane for cooking
