I see on the site many owners with the creedo that their bilge is always clean and dry. To that end I had the packing gland in our new boat equiped with the paking that dosen't drip. HOWEVER, the A/C pan drains to the bilge, when I clean the generator, A/C and moter strainers they dump water to the bilge and that water can be vile. I just let it rip and every time I fill the water tanks (evey week or so) I run 10 - 20 gallons into the bilge and pump it out - I run it in from the strainer locker and other area in the bilge. But I am I missing somehting - how do you all keep your bilge dry. Is there a secret to cleaning the strainers? What about the a/c pan drainage? Thanks Ed

Get a condensator from Mermaid Air

I used to have my A/C drain into the bilge. For this reason the pump would cycle about every hour. I installed a condensator which causes a venturi and sucks the condensation out the cooling water drain. Now my bilge is for all practical purposes dry.

Small Sump

Added a small sump high in the bilge with its own pump and float switch for the AC and refridgeration drains. Keeps that water out of the bildge. Still get some water from the chain locker, but only once a week or so we we go out and anchor. Flushing the bilge with fresh water is the best way to keep the smell down if you don't have a dry bilge.

Condensator?

I was thinking about doing the sump for my AC as well, but saw your post about the condensator. My question is where does the water go once it is in the venturi? Brian CREW REST
