dropping your keel

yep, it happened, i let someone steer while i went below and "bang", he hit a rock!! well, it opened a hair line crack on the leading edge of the keel. over the years, just painting over it, didn't help. water got in and rusted the keel bolts over time, the yard had to cut the remaining bolts off, remove them, replace with new ones (12) re-bed the keel(thanks to hunter for there advice) re glass, finish etc,. a very time consuming process and not cheap!!! good news is, it's just like a new boat again. and this all started when i went to tighten the keel bolts and they just snapped off!!! was it worth it, yes!!!! i love the boat

that will teach you to keep the beer cooler in the cockpit so you can keep an eye on where you are going. I hope all is well and that you got your roller furling on and are ready to sail that CRUISING BOAT.....;D
