The 1979 37 cutter I am considering purchasing is missing the dinette table and is powered with a yanmar 2QM20. Can anyone help me find a dinette table for this boat, and is the 37 cutter grossly underpowered with the 2QM20? Thanks

H37C with 2QM20.

My '79 has that engine Joe. I have had no problems with my 2-blade folding prop. But I am a fair weather sailor on Lake Erie where we have very little current and no tides. I cruise at 5(2000rpm) to 6(2400rpm) knots if the waves are less than two feet. A friend recently finished a trip on the Florida ICW. He has a newer 30HP Perkins and felt that it was underpowered. I think the issue is the prop, not the horses. The 2QM20 is a good bullet-proof engine. I know that a previous owner had my boat all over the Great Lakes towing his dinghy AND a jet ski! So it can't be too bad. I have considered a repower before I leave the lakes for the Atlantic. My choices have been narrowed to the Vetus and the Bukh diesels. If the boat is otherwise to your liking that is an option. Or you could look for a later model with the 3QM30. Look for an '84 and get the bigger engine, traveler mounted out of the cockpit, and fewer opening portlights. Can't help with the table. You might check the Related Link and see what Gene did.

Same engine on mine

It pushes the boat pretty well, but then I really only use it to get away from the dock and to get in and out of anchorages.
