At each two year haul out I've had to address blisters on my rudder. I drill several holes near the bottom to let any moisture out in addition to grinding the blisters out, letting them dry all winter, seal them and barrier coat the whole thing again. This year I would like to take an extra step and seal the shaft where it enters the rudder. I blocked the keel a bit higher this year for winter storage. It allows me to drop the rudder about 8-10" to access this area. What is involved in lowering the rudder a few inches? Is 5200 a good choice to seal this area?
