Drippy front hatch cover

The front hatch cover on our boat is great at bringing in large amounts of fresh air when we are on the hook but it also seems to be really good at dripping water down on us as the dew or rain falls down the hatch cover. The issue is that the bottom edge of hinge side of the cover extends inside of the catch rail that should collect that water and divert it down and around the hatch opening. I am trying to come up with a solution for either extending the hatch edge, installing some sort of "gutter" on that edge that would catch and divert the water away from the opening, or making a lip on the opening to do the same. The hatch lid is a pretty tight fit into the opening so attaching something to the outside edge of it is probably out. I am leaning towards trying to find some white flexible gasket material and bonding that to the inside lip of the opening at the top and a few inches down both sides in hopes that would catch the water and divert it off into the gutter.
Any thoughts?

A canvas cover for when on the hook that could divert rain and dew as well as reduce heat on the hatch from a beating sun.

Make a gutter from this...
