The boatyard is hauling my boat out for bottom work, should I have them install a dripless stuffing box at the same time? What are the good and bad points of having one installed? About how much should it cost? thanks, jack

PSS

We have a PSS dripless and had it installed when the boat was new in 2000. So far so good. I check the collar a couple times a year and make sure it is tight, burp it and so far that has been all the maintenance I have performed. The bilge is bone dry, so if I find any water in it I know there is a leak somewhere. Based on my experience I would recommend it. John

Likewise

Installed new in 2000'. Works perfectly. By all means, install at haulout.

Save a lot of money

and just install dripless goretex from e-mmarine in your existing stuffing box. Why complicate a simple matter? Stu
