Troops On a 1982 Hunter 27 with the 1 inch shaft, what size dripless shaft seal do I need? I was looking at the PSS model. The measurement I am unsure of is of the "shaft log" through the hull: I wanted to double check my measurement with what you guys have installed, particularly whether we are measuring the inside diameter or outside diameter of the log. Any assistance would be appreciated, as always. I am going to dive into the archives as well, but it's often faster to just go right to the sources! My co-owner and I can't wait for that "poor excuse for a bilge" in the Cherubini 27 to be dry!! Ron Vanderveer

measure it

Highly recommend just measureing it. All you need is the outside dimension of the shaft log. Just loosen the hose clamp on your shaft seal and slide it forward some and measure the OD of the log with a caliper. Jim

I just bought a stern tube for a 37C

I called the factory and they sent me to: Southeastern Foundries Corp 2706 Oakland Ave. Greensboro, NC 27403 336-299-7211 I talked to Debbie. The stern tube was 1 and 3/4 inch. Hunter part number HM 312930. Cost $30 plus shipping. I would bet that Hunter used the same part on all the boats it built in that time frame. They now use a 2 and 1/2 inch tube.
