I will be adding a splash guard on my Corian counter top on my new 2007 36 hunter. Has any one done this and what did you use to drill the holes. Nick

Drill Bit

Nick, We just used a normal carbide bit. Surprisingly how easy that sfuff cuts and drills.

Sharp is the key

Nick, Work Corian with a SHARP spiral drill bit, hole saw or router. A sabre saw or auger style bit can cause the material to crack. A dull bit or hole saw can generate enough heat to melt the resin. Do not use a lot of pressure when drilling as this also can lead to cracking(don't ask me how I know). Hunter's tops are not very thick...piece of cake if you let the bit do the work. Have a great day!

I'd question drilling....

...the Corian because of warranty issues. Maybe you would jeopardize the warranty? What if you drilled holes into the splash guard and then ran straight SS (w/a slight jog-bend) brackets straight down the back of the guard and vertically thru-bolt the brackets thru the back side of the wooden cabinet? Could that possibly work? Or would the Horizontal mount that you plan work better? I don't know! I've never done that before.

From Hunter

I am using the same splash back and bracket that hunter is using on the 38 and 41 hunter. The mounting hard ware needs a hole directly out the bottom and into the corian. Nick

Hey seadaddler

How much did Hunter charge you for the splash guard? Asked Joan if she would like one and the answer was no. Never did find out why she was against it. Jim S/V Java
