Jim, here in Texas we have what we call mud daubers. They tend to build mud nests inside the mast at the top. Later, the nests drop down to the bottom of the mast. When it rains, they dissolve and stop up the little drain holes at the bottom of the mast. The marina has told me to just drill a 1/2 hole in the mast at the bottom and the water will run out. Is this acceptable and is it important where it is located around the mast. Tnx

I donno'no

Mud Dauber's ya say? I'f you lived in Florida you'd go to the University and import some o' dem('mate'in fly's) aka..LOOOve Bugs...heck with the yacht... gettin to it's the problem. On the other side, make sure that new holes gonna work better'n what you have now. I think if you placed it in the right place a new .5in dia hole will not hurt you much. JB
