My boys and I overnighted on Lake Lanier this past weekend for the first time. I have been waiting for this moment for years. And it all went very smoothly, even the weather cooperated. Here's hoping for many more days like that!

We anchored in a cove. I wish I had pictures from the night time, it was awesome!

Nothing better...

That's one of my favorite things in life too. There is nothing better than waking up on the water and having coffee in the cockpit.

It's one of my favorites too! And you're right, coffee makes it even better.

Great story! My 2 grandsons just left. They love to sleep on the boat, even if only in the canal behind the house. We were short beds when their Mom and Dad joined us so they HAD to sleep on the boat. Oh the horror. They even went to bed early.

Yes they will, as will I. Hopefully we'll be at it again this weekend.

We also enjoyed some entertainment from the party boat anchored near us. Let's just say the bikinis disappeared with the sun. I had to think fast and told the boys they must be European ;)

Ruck,

Great job, great to hear! Good lookin' boys. Must take after mom. Make sure to sail as often as you can and heel as much as possible. Boys like imminent, gooey, probable death whenever possible. Don't tell them it's supposed to lean like that. Get them hooked so when they're in their teens, they're still be with you.

Oh, yeah! Even though we had a good day Monday sailing in 23 knots, we went out Tuesday/Wednesday, but only to Whitehall Bay to anchor, empty some wine bottles, use the grill, and have that morning coffee. Even got to sail both days as a bonus!

Thanks Don and Krusty. Will do!

Not much more to tell about the bikinis. They weren't on for long. Hopefully we're heading back to the same cove tomorrow ;)

I don't have kids yet....but....someday I am hoping to do that with my kids. It looks like an awesome trip. Keep them out there sailing. They may not appreciate it as much now but later on they will. It looked like a good time was had so that is the main thing.

The overnights are definitely the best. My girls love it. Heck we even sailed across Buzzards Bay to Hadley Harbor on Woods hole last Friday night. They, and I love the adventure.

Waking up at 5:00 am to make the slack current through the hole to seeing a massive deer on the shore in the early light of dawn. It is a gift we can give back to them. The gift of sailing. Like a bicycle....once you learn you never forget. My grandfather gave the gift to me when I was small.
