I have an '88 Cat 30 Standard Rig (#8510), and during the inspection, the water tanks were filled in order to make sure the waterpump worked and there were no leaks. The inspection did not find any leaks and the water came out nicely from both the double galley sink and from the head sink. However, a couple of months later when I turn any of the water faucets on, the water comes out in spurts. Since having the boat, I have not run the water very much at all, so the tanks should still be quite full. What would cause the uneven spurting out of water? Also, I would like to empty the water tanks. I have two tanks (I believe 40 gallons total). Is there a switch that exists that I need to open to gain access to each of them or will both be drained automatically if I use a hand pump? I look forward to the feedback. Harrison

spurts

It sounds as if you may have some air in your lines probably from the hot water side of things but may be the tanks s are low enough that it is sucking air as well as water. My front tank does have shut off. If the valve is open it does connect into the starboard tank that feeds the pump

empty tank

To empty tank I just pull sink spout out of sink in head( shower head) put it out port side hatch and it drains with power on .I am in alake and I have agray water tank so I dont drain it in to the tank most sinks just drain over board The tanks have valves on the bottom and 3" holes on top for cleaning The water gos foul after aweek or so in hot weather and needs changeing or more bleach You can use both tanks or you can close off the frount .My PO put in extra water lines so he could pump water from the frount taank to stb tank and back I dont no why.
