Draining Aft IceBox?

Hello,

In launching and commissioning my new 35, I can't seam to pump antifreeze (or anything) from he after ice box. The hand pump works fine pulling from the forward box.

Is there a diverter switch I'm not finding somewhere? Or, *gulp* might I have a clogged hose?

Mine has a "Y" valve under the sink, starboard side. I've always had an issue pulling water from the back icebox. It works but it's much harder to pump. I ended up only using the back box for dry food storage.

I have a 34 and I think that the setup is the same. I called the PO and he said the aft box drain clogs easily. There is no shut off. I ran a small mechanics "grabber" down the drain and used it like a plumbers snake to open it up.
Can anyone tell me where to get a new hand pump or maybe how to rebuild the one I have? It will pull, but I have to pump like mad to do it.

The Fynspray hand pump for my icebox was doing squat, so I just recently pulled it, disassembled it and found that a key washer had hardened and shrunk, meaning no suction in the pump, no draining of the icebox. I checked on the Imtra website (they market the New Zealand-made Fynspray pump) and found a repair kit available for the unit. Just over 10 bucks plus shipping -- kind of a ripoff for a couple washers and some packing gland material -- but what the hell, at least now I have a working icebox pump.

I don't know what kind of hand pump you have on your O'day, but if it's similar, I'm sure a repair kit if available.

My hand pump hasn't worked in about a year so I gave up on it and use a beckson portable hand pump. I just ordered two of the rebuild kits, one to rebuild and one for a spare. A new unit is well over 100 bucks so thanks for the heads up on the source for this.

Fynspray pump rebuild process - Anyone done this?

I picked up the "rebuild kit" and took the top nut off the pump but I can't pull the piston out of the bore? Has anyone rebuilt one of these pumps? Do I need to unscrew it from the counter and disassemble from underneath? Any help will be appreciated. It is probably easier to just drain the ice box into the bilge with a shut off valve, but I don't want a hole or an unworking pump in the galley counter.
