Hello, I just purchased an O'day 20. I am concerned that there is a fishfinder installed and I can find no drain plug location. Wonder if they placed the depth/fishfinder where the drain plug goes? Can anybody tell me where the drain plug is on an O'day 20?
I tried posting once and did not see it, sorry if I have a duplicate message. Little worried my boats filling with water.
Thanks

Bob,
As far as I know, the O'Day 20 doesn't have a drain plug. Your boat has a self bailing cockpit. The cockpit floor is higher than the water level and when any water gets in, it should go right out. There should be a hose under the floor that connects on to a thru-hull fitting in that little well near the transom and another thru-hull fitting near the bottom of the stern. That hose may be leaking. If the boat is in the water right now you can always plug the transom thru-hull fitting with anything and replace the hose. If you need to replace the hose, you can buy the reinforced clear plastic hose at any hardware store, along with the stainless steel clamps. When I replaced my self bailing hose, I bought a Nylon "L" shaped fitting and used two pieces of hose and four clamps rather than using one hose and try to bend it without kinking it. Check all your hoses. It's hard to speculate where the previous owner installed a transducer for a fish finder without looking for the wires. If the boat has one, just trace the wires to it. Most of the wiring goes to lights, which are mostly on deck. Here's a picture of my through hull hoses so that you can get an idea of how it's set up. Access is usually gained by a lazarett hatch in the cockpit. Have someone with you when you try to gain access to it from this hatch. I got stuck in that hatch a few years ago and almost couldn't free myself. I later wound up cutting a hole in the inside transom for a Beckson Deck plate.
