I recently bought a 1964 O'Day Mariner 19 swing keel. There is only one drain
plug in the boat and is located in the bilge between the v-berth just inside the small cuddy. Before launching I have to remember to put the the plug in...like what is used on the stern of outboard power boats. Was this factory or some previous owner's modification? Anyone know of this? Thanks.

The drain plug in my '68 Mariner looked factory to me.
I once had a beautiful topiary fountain in my boat, because I forgot to install the drain plug.
Good times.

Well, I thought the factory-installed plug was aft of the CENTERBOARD trunk, and was more like a bronze pipe-plug. But, knowing the hull shape of the MARINER, the position forward of the CB trunk may be a lower spot.
I have a vintage 1966 Brochure (scanned) and it lists the drain plug as being "in the cockpit", so my thought of it being aft of the CB trunk appears correct.

PS: MARINER came in Centerboard and fixed-keel models, no "swing-keel".

The Rhodes 19 (same hull as the Mariner) has the drain plug (1/2" NPT) located just forward of the centerboard trunk and a few inches to starboard. There is a small raised area with a threaded hole. Perhaps your boat was originally going to be an R19 they converted to a Mariner. 1964 is only the second year the Mariner was in production.
