Hi Peggie. Not sure this is your area, but may be. I cannot get the deck cap for the waste tank budge! It is the type that uses a winch handle to loosen. No matter how much force I apply, it won't budge. Any ideas? Will WD 40 help?

I hate to ask this...

But are you sure you're pushing in the right direction? You wouldn't be the first to forget that it's clockwise to loosen (years ago a friend taught me this little ditty to remember it: "righty-tighty, lefty-loosy")...and a ratchet winch handle can make it easy to push the wrong direction if you concentrate on which way the winch goes instead of the cap. (I've done it!) Assuming that you are sure...I doubt if WD-40 would help much...but some light penetrating oil might. Wait 24 hours after applying before trying to loosen it again. If that doesn't work, hopefully someone else will have an idea. Btw...greasing the caps when you winterize will prevent 'em binding over the winter.

Peggie, Ok to ask.

Good question, I didn't give it a thought, although I'm pretty sure I was trying the "right" way...maybe correct is a better word. I'll try again tonight. What do you suggest for a lube? I've been told (by you?) not to use petrolium based products (vasaline, etc.) as they attack the rubber gaskets & o rings.

In this case, use oil...

3-in-1 is good. You're not pouring down the toilet, just hoping you can get enough into the threads of the cap and fitting to free it. And, you'll need a new o-ring if you do, whether you use ANY kind of oil or not.

This happened to me

I once had the tank gasket wrap up into the threads of the cap. The PO must have done this. But constant pressure eventually got it out. But listen to Peggy's advice first about reverse threading.
