Steve, Given a choice, I would go with the wing version. Lot's of opinions, but I believe to wing helps to keep the water flow over the keel, like winglet's on aircraft. A couple inches shouldn't make that big of a difference, and I haven't had the issues folks talk about when running aground, that the wing will dig into the bottom like a Danforth anchor and cause issues to get free, but then again, I don't run aground, so what would I know....
Sailed on Carlyle Lake several times years ago with our original C-22. We had a slip on the Alton Pool, and when the Mississippi flooded, we would trailer over to Carlyle until the river went back down.
You'll be pleasantly surprised with the better performance and extra interior room going from the Compac-16 to the Capri.
