Dr. LED Certifications

Hi All,

I have been critical of Dr. LED for being misleading with certification wording and misleading tactics in the past, because they have been misleading. The anchor light I bought in the spring, as USCG certified, only got certified as of late February. If I am critical, I am always fair, or hope to be, so wanted to clear the air on this matter and give credit where it is due.

I wanted to let you know that Dr. LED finally got the certifications for Port, Starboard and Anchor lights when used in Aquasignal Series 40 fixtures.

This does not change the spat of failures or how they have dealt with them only that they have some sort of "certification" in three Aqua Signal Series 40 fixtures.

I just wanted to be clear that they now do actually have some sort of certification and get it on the record to be fair to them.

P.S. Please note that there is still no certification for Aqua Signal Series 25's or Series 40 Stern, Bi-Color or Tri-Color at this point.

Only the Series 40 All Round, Port & Starboard have a certification.

From my experience with their product, now all they need are LEDS that do not fail after a short time.

I take it that your use of Port and Starboard means that the individual lights, and not the bicolor have been certified?

Have they (the LEDs) become any more reliable? I would l love to change to them, but they are too expensive if they don't last longer than what has been reported on this site. -Paul

The LED navigation light fixtures are quite reliable. The replacement bulbs are not really as reliable and most are not certified.

Ancor has put out some LEDs. Even at the marina chandlery, they are a decent price.
