TN...You got me
I stand corrected. It does appear that Neil Pryde sells their sails, around the country, through "agents" which are all listed on their website. And yes, there seems to be an agent right in your backyard to provide you with the service you got. I suppose my agent would be CB Sails, Inc. in Panama City and I doubt that he would come see me in Tampa for a new $2500 spinnaker. From the looks of his website he seems to be more into seling used sails and boat canvas anyway.Back to the analysis though - Neil Pryde has a reputation as a production sail builder, mass producing sails for large manufacturers like Hunter, Oday, Beneteau, and whoever. Their website claims that they have a large selection of performance related products, yet they distribute through companies like Hurricane Canvas and Sails, The Boathouse, FabriCraft, and Jack D. Scullion Yacht Services. I know I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but seriously how can you campare this company to companies like Doyle, Ulman, Quantum, and North who are supported, owned and run by some of the best sailors in the world?Again, it is all about what you need. Can you be perfectly happy with a Neil Pryde sail for cruising or daysailing, and maybe a little club racing - absolutely. There is nothing wrong with these sails. But if you are a performance oriented sailor, looking for a more serious product, would you rather buy from a guy like Mark Ploch or would you rather buy it from Quality Sail and Canvas Repair in Ingleside Texas?
