Download the Sail Trim Chart?

I have what I think might be a great question...why can't you download the Sail Trim Chart after paying for it?

It would save us poor sailors on shipping and then more of us would order it...I want to order it but having a really hard time paying over $6.00 for shipping when it can just be downloaded...yes I do understand that it would not be laminated but that might be up to the purchaser to decide if it needs to be laminated in the future.

Just a thought from a 'modern' internet gal ;)

Hummm wonder what the response will be from that question...

Possibly because in digital format it could be too easily and illegally shared.

Probably not going to happen.... my guess is there's more than enough illegal copying by penny pinching sailors already.... no sense in sbo making it easier for them.

caguy and Joe are right. The ability of SBO to offer a download ain't going to happen because I own the copyrights and I won't allow it. Shipping is a fact of life with just about everything you buy on the internet. What you learn from the sail trim chart would take 2 hours or more to teach in a class -- classes are not cheap. Think of it that way and forget about the small cost of shipping.

I know mates copy the stuff but every once in a while I receive a surprise. One sailor sent me a check because he didn't feel right about using the photo copies his dock neighbor had given him. Another sailor from So Ca found them on a boat he purchased and noticed they were copyrighted and sent me a check. He told me the stuff he sells is also copyrighted but people steal his product all the time. Many sailors buy 2 & 3 charts at a time.

I'm very lucky that I sell my products to a special group -- sailors!! I don't accept credit cards because I don't want to add the additional cost to sailors. All my products are sold by check and I've received thousands of them -- NOT ONE has ever bounced!! That's a great endorsement for sailors as a group. Sometimes a sailor will need my stuff very quickly for a cruise he's going on or whatever. To expedite the situation, I sometimes will mail the products with the understanding "the checks in the mail". It always arrives.

I also sell my charts with a satisfaction guarantee. Of the thousands I've sold ONLY ONE has been returned and it was years ago. It was from a MIT professor -- he liked the material but felt the laminate was too thin. I promptly changed the production from 3mil to 5mil and sent it back to him.

Thank you sailors -- you're a pleasure to deal with.

Thank YOU, Don. For a great product that is the BEST sail trim information ever assembled.

Really, skippers, if you haven't read Don's material, you have NO idea what you're missing.

His chapter on "Racing" alone is worth the entire book!

fourwhitesocks; No problem and that question has come up before -- and I gave the same answer!!

It's nice to see some gals visiting this site. I wish there were more of you -- there might be but I can't tell. Gals are the best at sail trim and here's why. They're open minded and don't have any preconceived notions or anything to prove. Here's how guys ask sail trim questions -- they start out with "I've been sailing for 20 years and have sailed this and that" and then they ask me a question about the topping lift!!

I worked with a team of gals from Newport Beach who were sick of getting beat by guys. They never questioned anything I told them to do. They just did it and ending up kicking the crap out of the guys. They went on to do the Newport to Ensenada race and won their division!!
