Some comments if possible about sailing (racing) double handed on a 40.7 would be appreciated. I want to purchase that vessel but have some reservations if two can handle it. Once we finish racing then my wife some friends would like to go for some weekend and possibly extended cruising. Keel depth may also be an issue along with the creature comforts down below on this type of boat (race cruiser). Any other boat suggestions would be appreciated too. Cheers

Doesn't seem to be a problem

My dock neighbour at our club won the Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing Series in one this season. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beneteau393/ 393 group

racing double-handed

It's possible, but not easy. I have a OC400 and it takes more than two to race it effectively, especially if you're racing against crewed boats. If everyone is short-handed, it's like a handicap, even across the board. To race it effectively takes at least four, with five guys being better.
