I am thinking about installing the Double Ended Mainsheet offered by CD. Especialy in light wind I like to be as far forward in the cockpit as possible and this seems to be a good device for accomplishing this. Has anyone installed this device and how do you like it?

double ended mainsheet.

The one that CD is offering seems complicated and expensive. You can accomplish the same thing by attaching a loop on the boom just above the step into the cabin and attaching a loop on the face of the step. Just unhook the mainsheet from the traveler and attach it to the loop on the step and move the attachment from the outboard end of the boom to the new one over the step and you are in business. I bought the two parts from West just this last weekend and the total cost was about $15.00 including screws and all. I wanted mine re-locatable to help with the situation with the Bimini top and to allow some flexibility with it.

I have the CD head knocker on my boat. It includes a ratchet block that allows you to easily control the main without using the cleat. The reason I got this is because I race and I want to play the main in and out during puffs in order to keep the boat flat. Likes: Complete kit of Quality components, including a thread tap for the holes in the boom. Easy to install and easy to use and very comfortable versus the rear mounted main. Dislikes: The mounting screws backed out during the first year ( I race almost every weekend) so I pop riveted the cleat onto the boom. The main sheet hanging down does hit my crew in the head almost every time we tack. I have used CD a lot for parts and they give very good service with prompt delivery.
