I can splice laid line but have no idea about double braid. Where did you "old salts" learn? Should I buy a kit? WM has one for around $32. Is it any good? I want to learn in the next 6-8 weeks 'cause we're running out of winter (I hope). And you're right, I'm bored.

Here is a Link

I just had reason to research the same thing. Here it is. Get some short lengths, a fid of the correct size and try a few. Rick D.

Brion Toss has a good product

Do a search for his web site. He has a tool for splicing which looks like a hollow ice pick with a wire loop inside. It is the best method I have seen. You will never use a fid again. If you can go to one of his presentations, don't miss it whatever the topic.

By the way....

...here's another good reason to use 12 strand spectra. Besides the fact that it is so much stronger and stretches far less, it's also much easier to splice than double braid dacron.
