Can someone recommend a good web link with instructions on how to do an end splice for double braided line, (sta-set X). My roller furler has a single line that feeds through the drum and the existing line splice is slowly failing. thanks

END splice?

Do you have a single line on a drum or a continuous line? Single line furlers generally do not have a need for an END splice. The rope at the drum is knotted or clamped, you might want to end splice the bitter end instead of whipping. If you have a Hood Line Drive or another furler that uses a continuous loop of line, what you want is a constant diameter end for end splice. New England Ropes has a set of instructions for either splice. Hood used a simplified version of the end for end splice, but the NER splice is stronger and works very well in the Hood furlers.

I used this one.

Look at the end for end splice - Constant Diameter. The constant diameter is what you need for the furling main so it will pass thru all of the clutches without binding.
