Last weekend I spoke with another H34 owner that purchased his boat in the past year also. The both of us were wondering what the purpose of the storage compartment at the forward side of the dorade box is for. Could other H34 owners enlighten us as to what they are storing or using this cubby hole for besides growing algae experiments?

For me their used for holding the sail
ties while sailing .. I believe this is there purpose, as it's location is right under the boom. Works for me.

That is what we use our for too. That is a great place to put the sail ties. I can't remember if a winch fits in the box for the lines at the mast where the winch is near the boom - though I don't think I need that winch for any of those lines - 2 reefing lines, topping lift, outhaul if I remember correctly. Anyway, that is where our sail ties go too.

Sunbathing
We use it for ties most of the time, but wife and daughter claim for their suntan lotion and glasses when they are laying up there. The ties are then moved to lifelines.
