Door County, WI

[Piper Capri 22]

Just spent 5 nights, 6 days on our Capri 22 in Door County, WI with my wife, daughter and beagle. 4 of us. Are we crazy? Probably. Was it fun/did it sleep better than I imagined it would or could? Definitely. You CAN cruise on a Capri 22!

I live in Sheboygan and I have been pondering sailing my Capri up to Door County for a weekend for quite some time.

Are you from Door County?

Hi Bordiki --

I'm originally from Green Bay, WI - though I haven't lived there for 20 years! My parents have a boat in Fish Creek and my brother and family are often up there too. I love the Door County area and we get up there several times a summer though this was the first season I had my Capri up there. I just trailered the boat up to Washburn, WI just south of Bayfield today, 8.5 hours of driving since I live in White Bear Lake, MN. Up in Washburn I can store it on the trailer fully rigged for $80 per month, so next up this summer will by trying it out in the Apostles!

Returning to Door County for a moment there is a Capri 22 that a gentlemen from Illinois keeps in Sister Bay, WI. Boats have gotten bigger everywhere I go and our Capri's are always some of the smallest in the marinas that I frequent - but all I can say is I thought the Capri handled the big water with aplomb. Something I'm sure you know all about if you're sailing out of Sheboygan.
