Lesson learned:
When installing hose of any kind do not attempt to minimize the amount of hose used. I just installed my new bilge pump and hose and unknowingly cut my hose too short. Oh, it still reaches the bilge pump, and I thought everything was fine...untill I looked at my anti-siphon loop and saw that it is slightly kinked. So, off to the store for more hose and my wallet is $10 lighter.
A slightly loose hose is what you want...just a little play is all. I'm sure this is my natural tendancy towards efficient use of space. I have an aircraft mechanic background and in an airplane space is at a premium and everything is tight and very little play is allowed. Maybe that's why I find boat maintenance so liberating!
