Another turkey question...what is the safest passage to travel sailboat to turkey....from north carolina???go north??to ice land via the coast and cross over????thanks

You really want to know the safest route to Gibraltar from NC. The common route is to Bermuda and The Azores. If you sail up the east coast to Nova Scotia and from there to Ireland it is a little farther and I think the jump to Ireland is longer.

Or you could take the canals across Europe to the Black Sea.

I think the canals route would be safer, but more of a pain, since it would require constant motoring with the mast down, and no real chance to sail at all.
