Cliff: Normally, I stay over on the sail trim forum but today I just happened to pop over here and saw your comment. Yup, I agree, the wind span I used was too large. The problem is defining very light, light, medium, medium to high and high wind. I know you know the answers to the following questions but hopefully some of the other listers on this "ask all sailors" forum might like to take a stab at the following. Suppose you were sailing closehauled in 10 knots of wind, what settings would you use for the traveler, mainsheet, halyard, outhaul, Cunningham (I use a Cunningham in place of the halyard), boom vang mast bend? How much draft depth and draft position would you set? Where would you place your crew and how would you set your leechline? On the jib - how much tension would you apply to the halyard and where would you place the fairleads? If you can't answer these questions in less than 30 seconds, you should sail over to the Sail Trim Forum and partake of all the helpful info you'll get there. After all you bought a sailboat with the main purpose of sailing it. You can't believe how great it is to get 100% performance out of your little beauty.
